Ringlorn was written Summer 2021. The word “ringlorn” originates from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, where it’s defined as an adjective, meaning, “the wish that the modern world felt as epic as the one depicted in old stories and folktales – a place of tragedy and transcendence, of oaths and omens and fates, where everyday life felt like a quest for glory…”.
Both movements move to present this emotional mood. The first movement, more explosive in sound, presents one’s interpretation of epic events, while the second movement, more lyrical in sound, presents one’s dream and wish that everyday life felt like a quest for glory.
